MINUTES OF ESCRICK PARISH COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY 2ND FEBRUARY 2009 AT ESCRICK & DEIGHTON SOCIAL CLUB

MATTERS ARISING:
Street Lighting
A broken light on
Carr Lane has been reported.
The bus shelter light needs reporting
to Tarmac.
Action: SS
A light on Escrick Park Gardens needs
repairing, Ian Reynolds to let Steve Smowton know its number.
Action:

There is also a light cracked on Dower Chase. Brian Forster to
inform Steve Smowton of its location so that both of these lights can be
dealt with by the County Council.
Action: SS
Steve Smowton has
contacted the person who granted us the money for our extra street light
last year to enquire if there may be some money available this year. We
should know within the month if this is the case.
POLICE REPORT
The police report had not arrived prior to the
meeting.
ESCRICK PLAYING FIELDS
All the matters dealt with. The
replacement swing is on order.
Action: GM
FLOODING
Mr Smowton had received a letter from John Grogan
at Selby to attend a meeting this Friday 6th February for a flooding
update. Mr Smowton, Mrs Mannix and two residents from the village were
planning to attend.
CLEANING STREET LIGHTS AND REPLACING BULBS
Take forward to
next meeting.
The trees by the street light opposite the snicket on
Skipwith Road needs cutting back. Steve Smowton to report to Mark
Lumby.

ACCOUNTS
The accounts are in credit as follows at 17th
January, 2009:
A/c No 1: £1706.06
A/c No 3: £34.50
The
cheques that had been approved at the previous meeting have been dealt
with.
The precept request has also been submitted.
PLANNING APPLICATIONS
Holicarrs
Request for double garage
to be converted into a residential unit for an elderly relative. No
objections subject to the occupation being tied to the original dwelling.
Steve Smowton to inform the planning authorities by e-mail.

Oakhurst, Escrick
Additional living and treatment
accommodation for disabled daughter. The PC supports this in principal,
however would recommend that the boiler house wall facing Carr Lane needs
more detail.
Lilian Coulson had contacted the enforcement officer from SDC regarding the tree in the Old School Playground.
A beech tree at the corner of Dower Park on land owned by Highways is to be cut down as a result of a complaint by a resident. The PC can plant a more suitable tree in its place.
CORRESPONDENCE
CE Electric has requested that we calculate
our usage; this will be completed on the clerks return.

North Yorkshire Waste Partnership has invited local people to a training session on February 10th in Selby in order to create "Waste Warriors". Letter placed on notice board.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Mr Ian Reynolds requested the PC contact The Black Bull regarding their
deliveries by Kuhne & Nagel causing an obstruction to local
residents.

Mr Brian Forster had noticed that the path in front of the church needs
clearing.

The path between the snicket and Skipwith Road has several pot
holes.
Action: CFA
The seat at the bus stop by the church entrance needs some maintenance
work. Two quotes to be obtained.

Mr Steve Smowton said that several pot holes had appeared on Main
Street near the tennis courts. Mark Lumby from Highways to be
contacted.

Mrs Carole Wainwright announced that she would be stepping down from the Parish Council due to her other commitments. The Parish Councillors congratulated Mrs Wainwright on her appointment as Lady Golf Captain.
The Parish Council were delighted that the Village Hall Committee had been successful in their lottery application and passed on their congratulations.
The councillors thanked Mrs Mannix for again taking the minutes.
