Street lighting
Street lighting in Escrick is provided by a mixture of North Yorkshire County Council and Escrick Parish Council.
Both councils have recently undertaken initiatives affecting the lights that they provide.
North Yorkshire County Council has introduced a programme of 'part-night lighting' where many lights are switched off between midnight and 5am to reduce energy consumption. This change was made in Escrick during Autumn 2015. The map below shows which lights are affected as red circles. North Yorkshire will be converting their streetlights in Escrick to LED lighting during 2018-2019. More details are on the North Yorkshire County Council website here:

During 2016 Escrick Parish Council procured replacement LED street lights for the lights that it is responsible for. Almost all lights had the lamp replaced, and concrete/wooden posts were also replaced.
More information on this initiative can be found in this letter that was circulated to residents in 2015:
The Parish Council is also investing in a small number of additional streetlights to address some of the dark spots in the village. To-date three additional lights have been installed on Carr Lane, one on Main St, and one on the A19 outside the business park.
